Newest episode of Star Chef Chicagoland scheduled for viewing

The second episode of the locally produced “Star Chef Chicagoland”reality show is scheduled for broadcast on Fridays on Comcast Cable TV Channel 19 in 145 suburban communities each week. The show features celebrity chefs making their favorite recipes for a panel of celebrity judges and is hosted by Ray Hanania, a columnist with Creators Syndicate and host of a weekday morning radio show on WJJG 1530 AM Radio.

Episode 2 features Second City comedian Aaron Freeman and his wife Sharon Rosenzweig making Challah Shabbat Jewish Bread and garlic pole beans. The celebrity judges include Cook County Commissioner Liz Gorman (R-17th District), former White Sox Pitcher Billy Pierce, Les Aims Escoiffier member Nemer Ziyad and Bryan Sord the owner of 94 West Steak & Seafood Restaurant where the show is taped each month. Ziyad is the vice president of Ziyad Brothers Importing, one of the nation’s largest distributors of Mediterranean Foods and also Wild Garden Hummus Dip.

All episodes are also available for viewing online at www.StarChefChicagoland.com. The show airs in Palos Park, Palos Hills and Orland Park at 8:30 PM. It airs in Palos Heights at 7 PM. More listings are available online.

2nd Episode of Star Search Chicagoland taped for broadcast in August

Former White Sox Pitcher Bill Pierce poses with his wife Gloria, Cook County Commissioner Liz Gorman (R-17) and 94 West Steak & Seafood Restaurant owner Bryan Sord. Pierce and Gorman were two of the celebrity judges appearing in the latest episode of Star Chef Chicagoland, a food reality show produced for Comcast Cable TV Channel 19 by Orland Park’s Ray Hanania. The show features celebrity chefs preparing meals for a panel of judges that also includes Nemer Ziyad, owner of Ziyad Brothers Importing and member of the Les Ames Escoiffier Society, and Sord. 

The second episode, to be broadcast in August on Friday nights at 7 pm or 8:30 pm (depending on your suburb) on Channel 19 Comcast Cable, features 2^nd City Comedian Aaron Freeman and his wife Sharon cooking a traditional Jewish Shabbat entre, Challah Bread and garlic string beans.

Black Hawks star Tony Esposito signs autographs for patrons at Charley Horse Munster Indiana April 12

Famed Black Hawks super star Tony Esposito will sign autographs during a special event April 12 at the Charley Horse Sports Bar in Munster Indiana Monday April 12.

Esposito, who’s autograph is one of the toughest for collectors to obtain, will provide autographs to the first 150 people at the Charley Horse Restaurant, 8940 Calumet Avenue, in Munster, Indiana.

Charley Horse in Munster is operated by Bryan Sord, who operates two other Charley Horse Sports Bars in Tinley Park and also New Lenox, in Illinois. Sord also operates the popular 94 West restaurant in Orland Park.

“We’re very excited to be able to bring Tony Esposito to our Charley Horse Sports Bar in Munster Indiana,” said Sord who opened the franchise in Munster, Indiana in February of this year.

Charley Horse is a very popular hangout for sports aficionados, and offers not only a superb menu of food but also features one of the only “Ice Bars” in the region.

“The Ice Bar is a section of the bar that is made of solid ice. Our customers love it. It is a tough challenge to maintain but it adds a special ambience today’s sports customers demand,” Sord said.

Sord said tickets for the Tony Esposito event are $35 per person.

“We’ll only sell 150 and it will be first come first serve. We are proud to be able to bring some of the best sports personalities to our establishments and Tony Esposito is one of the best. His autograph is a highly sought one by sports memorabilia collectors.”

Past celebrities have included Bobbie Hull and Andrew Ladd. Esposito is a former goalie for the blackhawks and he and his brother, Phil Esposito, a Center, have been honored with admission to the Hall of Fame.

The autograph session will begin at 6 pm.

Condolences in horrific and sad tragedy in car accident

Bryan Sord is one of the most generous people we've met over the years. The owner of several great restaurants including 94 West, Sord has been a philanthropist who has helped many charities and good causes. His parents owned a very popular restaurant that served the green pasta in Chicago. It was a place where I found great memories going with my mom and dad when I was young.

So it was even more painful to read this weekend that his son, Nicholas, 21, was involved in a tragic car accident that took the life of Jessica Mejia, 20, of New Lenox who was in the car with Nicholas. Our condolences go out to the Mejia family and the Sord family. New Years is supposed to be a good time for people when they can look forward to better times. This will be a terribly difficult time for both families. (Read story)
